Experiences
There are many ways back.
The Way Back offers experiences through nature, writing, listening, creativity and reflection — different ways to step out of the usual pace, pay attention, and reconnect with yourself, with others, and with the world around you.
You can join a scheduled experience in Cascais, choose a private experience for yourself or your own group, or take part online from wherever you are.
Some experiences are quiet. Some are creative. Some take us outside. Some bring us around a table.
Choose the way back that feels right for you.

What to Expect
Every experience at The Way Back is intentionally designed, organized, facilitated, and guided around the same simple invitation: to slow down, reconnect, and return to what matters.
Many of us long for slower, more meaningful ways of living, but we’ve become accustomed to speed. We move quickly, connect through screens, and fill our days with activity, yet often find ourselves longing for something we can’t quite name.
Whether you’re joining a Forest Walk, Journal to the Self, or the Writers’ Circle, you’re not simply attending an activity. You’re stepping into a space where you can slow down, reflect, connect with others, and gradually cultivate a more intentional way of living.
Through each experience, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Slow down without feeling rushed.
- Develop a regular practice of reflection.
- Connect with others through shared experience.
- Be guided while discovering your own path.
- Return, again and again, to what matters most.
Each experience offers a different way back. The destination is the same.

Forest Walks
GROUP · PRIVATE · ONLINE
Put your phone down. Step away from the screen. Turn down the noise around you, and inside you.
We walk slowly for 2.5–3 hours, mostly in silence. I’m your guide. I’ll give you simple ways into the quiet, and we’ll never stay there so long that it feels uncomfortable.
For anyone who wants more quiet in their life and to be more present in it, but isn’t sure how, or isn’t sure they can. Whether you’re burnt out, curious, or desperate for quiet but a little overwhelmed by it.
You’ll leave clearer, lighter, more rested. No two walks are ever the same, and each time you come back, the quiet feels a little more like yours.
No experience needed. You don’t have to be good at silence. Just come willing to slow down.
Add Stay & Reflect afterwards: 45 minutes of guided journaling to capture what you noticed.
“It’s always good to have those little reminders in order to return to ourselves.” Walk participant
Journal to the Self®
GROUP · PRIVATE · ONLINE
This isn’t really a writing course. Writing is just the tool.
Journal to the Self® was created in 1985 by Kathleen Adams, a counselor and founder of the Center for Journal Therapy. More than 100,000 people around the world have taken it.
Over six weeks, you learn a structured set of journaling techniques for personal growth, creative expression, and everyday life. Each session introduces a different way to journal, and you try it right there: write, reread, and notice what comes up. Most people are surprised by what they find.
It helps you work through big feelings and big decisions, notice patterns in your life, and trust yourself a little more.
For anyone who’s always wanted to journal but never knew where to start. For anyone carrying something they haven’t had space to think through. And for writers looking for new ways onto the page.
Join a small group in Cascais (4–8 people), work with me one to one, or bring your own group. I can shape the course around you and what you need: wellness, work and business, a fresh start, a new life abroad, and more.
No writing experience needed. You never have to share what you write. Just bring a notebook and some curiosity.
Writers’ Circle
GROUP · PRIVATE · ONLINE
A small writing group, guided by me.
It isn’t just time to sit and write. Each session, I bring prompts and exercises that stretch you: five-minute sprints, slowing a single moment down, rewriting a scene from someone else’s point of view. Then there’s time to work on your own pieces, and to share and get feedback if you want it.
For writers of any genre and any stage: poets, memoirists, fiction writers, people who’ve filled notebooks and never shown anyone. Anyone who wants to practise, be challenged, and grow as a writer, in good company.
You don’t need to call yourself a writer. You just need to want to write.
Bring your writing. Find your people.
“I found our writing session both welcoming and productive. It exceeded my expectations, and perhaps most importantly, it has inspired me to write. I’m looking forward to the next session. Thanks Casey.” Writers’ Circle participant
Sound Walks
GROUP · PRIVATE
A guided walk devoted to something we rarely give our full attention to: listening.
We move slowly and mostly in silence, allowing the sounds around us to become the focus — birds, wind, footsteps, distant voices, leaves, water, and all the quieter things we normally pass without noticing.
Along the way, gentle invitations help you listen in different ways. There is nothing to achieve and nowhere in particular to get to. The experience is simply about being present enough to hear what is already there.
Join a scheduled Sound Walk in and around Cascais, or arrange a private walk for yourself or your own group.
Come quietly. Leave having heard more.
“It really was my dream. Be more slowly and in silence.” Walk participant
Stay & Reflect
GROUP · PRIVATE · ONLINE
A little more time before you move on.
Stay & Reflect is a space for those moments when you want to linger with an experience, a question, or something that has been stirring.
